Garden Walk

Won't you join me for a walk around the yard this beautiful morning? Grab a cup of coffee and lets see what's blooming. The lemon thyme is bursting with its pretty purple flowers and spilling over the sidewalk
The little blue bells are in full bloom and the smaller lily's are blooming.
Let's go around the corner of the front of the house and see whats going on there.
The window boxes are a little dry but the lily's are really plentiful this year.
The Stargazers are not blooming yet and are pretty sparse because the bunnies decided that they really liked the sweet foliage this spring.
Oh, this looks pretty coming around to the drive way.

Let's go around back and see how things are coming along.
The lavender didn't do great this year, I wonder why? The big Hydrangeas are starting to bloom out back.

The herbs in the planters don't look to good. They might need to be cut back a bit.
Wow, these lily's that didn't bloom well last year are really putting on a show this season.

The Rose of Sharon hasn't started to flower yet but their foliage is really filling in a creating a nice hedge here.
Thanks for joining me on my morning walk. I would love to hear from y'all. Leave me a comment if you have a minute and let me know how you're doing. I'll try to get around to visit soon.
Hugs,
Sue

  2. So beautiful and serene! Here in Texas, plants start looking a bit dried out in July. It doesn't matter how much you water, vivid color doesn't exist.
Thanks for sharing, it made my morning. (It also made me look out my window wishing for the month of June again!)

Morning Sue! Oh, I'm in heaven! Your gardens are the most beautiful! Do you do all of the work yourself to keep everything so beautiful? I felt as if I were really walking thru and couldn't wait to see what was around the corner. Oh, and your house! How gorgeous. Honey, I hope you know you are one blessed lady!
thanks for coming by to 'cruise' with me this morning.
    Be a sweetie,

My *garden* is all dried up. I hope to put in some landscaping this fall.

  16. Hi Sue :)

Your gardens look wonderful! I noticed that some flowers bloomed like crazy, while others didn't this year and it was oposite last year here too. Strange, isn't it?

    Have a beautiful evening!

  19. I am going to try Paula's Strawberry Cake. I had an opportunity to visit her restaurant last year when we were in Savannah and I passed it up. I don't know where my mind was. Also, you have one of the most beautiful gardens that I have ever seen - there is so much attention to detail.

I would like to pass on Picket's Blog Award to you. You have a beautiful blog!

    Sweetie

  21. Carolyne,
Thanks for coming by. I think the little tree you are refering to is the tiny grafted French Lilac Tree. A purple French Lilac shrub was grafted onto the trunk of some other kind of tree trunk that would remain small. The purpose was to keep the whole tree small in scale.
If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer them.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  22. Sheila,
My gorgeous, classically trained in Fine Arts, landscape designer has been coming back every spring for the past six years to trim, transplant, replace things not thriving, and mulch. Hiring her and her husband to design and install our landscaping was one of the best decisions Mr. LAF and I have ever made. Although the initial expense was spendy we feel it has payed for itself many times over.

They come in once a year and we do nothing but wait for one wave of color to fade, and the next wave to appear. The most I do is pull the rare weed and pick flowers for the house. We do sometimes plant our own planters...I should say Mr. LAF plants them. Those sometimes require dead heading.

Granted, the garden looks its best in the spring right after they have been here but it does seem to gracefully fade into fall and then rest in the winter.
