Good Morning

Frozen bread dough in the oven with a pan of boiled water so it thaws quickly.

Tea kettle on to boil water for a pitcher of Iced Sweet Tea made with Splenda.

Yogurt maker set for 10 hours to make homemade yogurt.

Slow cooked oatmeal with apples and brown sugar.

Yogurt and a bowl of oatmeal to start the day.
Now if I can just stay out of the Halloween candy.....................

Researching

Good morning fellow bloggers. Seems like a long time since I have been inclined to blog. The past few weeks my heart has lead me to research. This morning I stumbled across this library on the internet.

My prayer is that all of you who have the time are doing research too.

May God have mercy on us all.

All glory and honor are yours dear heavenly Father.

Keep the faith! God bless you and your families around the world.
Hugs,
Sue

Home Town Parade

In many communities around the country fall is the time for college and high school homecomings that often commence with a parade.

Families and friends both young and old gather along the leaf strewn streets to watch the parades.

The children wait with eager anticipation for the parade to pass by. The parade participants often throw candy from their displays which the little ones scramble to gather out of the leaves.

Our parade host and hostess set out this sweet little tray by the bed for me the night before the parade with everything that might possibly be needed for a comfortable stay in their welcoming home.

They have lovingly restored their downtown home over the past couple of years into a place that their family and friends love to spend time in.

Aren't these windows beautiful? This little sun room off of their living room is such a pretty spot.

Here is a picture of the kitchen before the parade viewers arrived that I took just after getting up. Cindy had been up preparing all the delicious food for her guests long before I even got out of bed.

Even in these unsettled times it is a comfort to maintain tradition and enjoy the blessings of the people that we love all gathered together to watch a good old fashioned parade pass by on a beautiful fall day in October.

Hugs,

Sue

~ Old White Dishes ~

Did you ever just grab your camera and walk around the house looking for something that looked pretty through the eye of your camera? I'm sure you have. Doesn't it surprise you how something that you think will look so good turns out to look not so good when you put the camera up to your eye?

That's what I did this morning and these old white dishes are what I came up with.

Even thou they are faded and worn their simple shapes form a pleasing arrangement don't you think?

A couple of old casserole dishes stacked on top of each other. The lid on the bottom one is turned upside down.

Footed dishes of varying shapes and sizes.

Hope you enjoy this simple offering today.

Many blessings to you all.

Hugs,

Sue

~ Custom Needlepoint ~

My dream is to have my friend Sarah make needlepoint seat covers for my kitchen chairs. She made this seat cover for the chair above. Her love of all things tartan is represented in the background. This is one of the first pieces that she did designing her own interpretation of a plaid turned into needlepoint.
On this pillow you see the plaid used on a larger scale.
This little lumbar pillow was made to rest on the back of the chair but today is being used to spread the pattern of the chair around our living room.
Last Saturday at a local craft fair I bought these three pieces from Miss Sarah. Aren't her cards cute?
Here they are in their new home. These pieces have a special place in my heart because before they came to Greenbrier to live they were in Summerhill. Summerhill was the little duplex cottage where our family had the lower unit and Sarah's had the upper unit. We shared our duplex for 12 years until we sold it in 2006. These pieces will remind me of all the fond memories of our time at Summerhill for ever more.

One of these days I will try to share photos of Sarah's doll house of a home that is chock full of her tartan needlepoint work. If you are a fan of the English Country look you will love her home that has continued to evolve over the past 20 years. The custom work that Sarah has created to adorn her cape cod cottage will amaze you and if you think the color Hunter Green is over, prepare to fall in love with it all over again.

Hugs,
Sue
