Vera Bradley Store ~ Troy, MI

Several months ago the new Vera Bradley store at Somerset Mall opened. When you first enter you feel like you are walking into someones home, someone with a very creative eye for creating a large impact in a very small space.
My first thought was that this space, so beautifully laid out, would be a nice arrangement for a retirement condo or small home. The architectural detail and proportion was so precise that even with all the pattern, which I like but some might find objectionable, you immediate felt balanced and comfortable. The ceiling treatments really caught my eye from the moment you enter.
This little dining room area, to the left of the entry, is wallpapered in a Thibaut pattern with a dark brown background. The yellow toile upholstered chairs and needlepoint rug were so cute and fit the area really well.
The body of the store was papered in brown and cream buffalo checked wallpaper from Scalamandre. It is the biggest checked paper I've ever seen. Across from this grouping on the wall was a sofa covered in the brown check with little side tables on either side , a coffee table in front and a sofa table behind it, set up just like a living room.

Hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Vera Bradley store. Oh, they sell purses too ;)

  3. I would have a hard time concentrating on handbags! The store is absolutely beautiful. I have to get my hands on some bird prints like that. Wonder where they came from...might have to call the store. Thanks so much for posting the pics! I really enjoyed looking!

  9. Sue, I had to call the store and inquire about those bird prints on the wall. Apparently, Im not the first person to do so. ha ha. They had a canned response for me. Boo hoo for me, the store says they are antiques selected by a decorator and are not for sale :( Oh well. I bet they cost an arm and a leg anyway.

  10. To save any one else the expense of calling the store I thought I would let you know that the furnishings in the store are not for sale, which I found out after inquiring about the little yellow chairs. Sorry, I should have explained that in the original post.

  11. Sue, I bet you could recreate the chairs fairly easily. That yellow fabric looks like a Waverly print- I know I've seen it before. The trick would be to find some french looking chairs with cushions. There was a french bergere set on my Craigslist here about a month ago and now I could just kick myself for not getting them..I think they were asking $100 for both. That was really silly of me. I'm so glad you posted these pics, by the way. This has really inspired me!

  18. Hi Sue,

First of all, thank you for Phil 4:8. It is so beautiful and a special favorite - so perfect for your site. I was tickled to find your Vera Bradley post, as I have been searching to see where I can get her wallpaper - but now I know who makes it! I went back to school for interior design and did my first paper on Scalamandré.
It's nice to share my tastes with someone!
