Prayers Please

We were supposed to be in Denver right now but at 4:30 am John woke me up and told me he was having chest pains and that he needed to go to the hospital. When we got there he was immediately diagnosed as having a heart attack. They took him right to the cardiac catherization lab and began a procedure to stop the attack. They were successful at opening the 100% clogged artery and put in a stint to keep it open. Thank God we did not get on that airplane. No telling what the outcome would have been if we did.
He will be in the hospital for another 3 days at least. They need to go back in and open another clogged artery but wanted to wait until he was over the initial attack to attempt it. So, probably on Monday they will to the other procedure.
He is resting comfortably now and when I left the hospital he had eaten dinner, wanted a snack, and was sitting up in a chair watching the Tiger's on TV.
Please join me in praying for his speedy recovery.
Hugs,
Sue

  1. Oh Sue, I'm so sorry to hear the news. I'm praying for a speedy and full recovery. So thankful he got immediate help.
My hubby had open heart surgery in Oct. Came out of nowhere. He is doing so well today and very active. We had just flown back from CA and were home only a day and a half. God is good!
We are originally from MI (Sterling Hts. area) but now live SC. We still keep up with the Tigers and Red Wings!
    Take care!

  10. The Lord truly is mindful of you and John. His timing is perfect...thank goodness you didn't get on that plane.

Modern medicines and techniques are a wonderful thing. And so is good old fashioned heart felt prayers. You are both in mine.

    Try to get some rest.

  11. Hi Sue - I work in this area of medicine & it looks like your swift response has certainly given John a good outcome. Balloon angioplasty & stents are very powerful & wonderful treatments & if the Drs. say were 100% succesful in reopening the artery, that is fantstic news. Now John needs to adhere to all their advice re lifestyle to ensure his stent remains patent & he is still giving you 'grief' when he's 100! All the best to you both.

  20. Oh Sue, Im so happy for a higher power and that your have a husband that was smart. So many people in a hurry and with things going on just chalk it up as bad ingestion.
My brother just went in with bad pain and they found scars where he had had a Heart attack and he said he knew when it happened. He had to pull off the road it was so bad. He is so hard headed. This time they went in and did the stint. We are lucky to have him.
Thanks God you were home and did the right thing. For some reason I feel you have one strong man and I know it will all come out great.
    Thoughts and prayers,Brenda

  31. Thank you everyone for all your prayers and well wishes. I see that many of you have gone through similar situations and I so appreciate hearing your stories.
Our God is indeed a mighty God. I am so greatful for the many things that He worked together for good under these horific circumstances. For the way my 'des de dodel' (very poor spelling of the Italian word for hard headed) husband immediately new he should go to the hospital. For the way his cardiologist arrived safely at the hospital after driving 110 miles an hour to get there. For the way we arrived safely with me driving 95 mph to get there. For the way the surgeon made the right call to open up the right artery that was clogged 100% shut, and on and on.

John has to be in the hospital until Wednesday. He is feeling fine and doing well but needs to be monitored closely to make sure his heart is not over exerted until they can go in and open up the other artery that is 80% blocked. They plan to do that procedure on Tuesday so he should be able to come home on Wednesday barring any further complications.
Again I thank all of you for your kindness. Bloggers rock!
Hugs, God bless, and much love,
    Sue
