Home Again

Yesterdays trip home from up north was a bit nerve wracking but once I got on I-75 the pavement was dry so it didn't take long from there. On the way home John informed me that the appraiser was going to be at our house at 2:00! Most of you know that we live in the Detroit area so you know what that means.......falling home prices by the day. I won't make any political comments about that other than to say that we are not involved with the auto industry.
Any way, you know how your house looks when you leave for a day. Well, after being gone for a good part of the week and coming home the house probably isn't ready for an inspection. Mine sure isn't any way. John does a good job of keeping things picked up but the dirt, laundry and clutter sure has a way of piling up and that awful carpet in the great room and through out the rest of the house doesn't stand a chance of staying clean.

I got home an hour before the appraiser arrived and did the best I could to put things in order so we will see how it turns out.

It was so fun spending time with family and friends up north but it is also so nice to come home again and get things fluffed up and fresh for my sweetie who is so good about fending for himself so that I can be away for a few days at a time. We spent the evening curled up by the fire leaving the cares of the world on our door step if even for a moment.

Blessings to all, and especially to those who are involved in the auto industry.

  1. Oh Sue I just did the same thing - being away from home I mean. Thank goodness, no home inspection here. My hubby kept everything picked up too. I did have to sweep mounds of cat and dog hair, vacuum, and do lots of laundry. Some of those every day jobs really build up if no one is doing them.

Best of luck on your home inspection/appraisal.

  3. Your home looks lovely and hope the appraisal went well. It is a scary time for so many and our hearts go out to all who's jobs are in jeopardy.
The snow looked fun and I can say I am so glad it hasn't arrived in force here in Utah. It will this week end though.

Have a merry Christmas. Your children are darling!

  4. I trust the inspection went o.k. I think we worry too much over those sorts of things. Good luck selling your home!

  5. Hi, Sue, oh it sounds like you are getting ready to sell & move? I guess I didn't know that. I wish you the very best.

My silver table is a new console table I just got from JC Penney in a promotion. It's in my livingroom & the green & red table is just inside the frontdoor in the foyer. I know, confusing! thank you for coming to to see me!

  7. No, we are not getting ready to move Rhoda. We are just getting an appraisal to see where we stand.
    Your table looks great.

  8. Love that towel holder! Reminded me of an episode of Frazier where they had a fake deer over the fireplace. But I really LOVE that Santa by the tree. I must admit that I'm a tad envious (I know that's a bad thing) of all that snow! Have a great weekend!
P.S. You have the best hair!

Hi Sue, I came over to visit and say hello.I hope it goes in your favor with the appraiser. I think I would faint if we had to get that done to our house. We worked and saved everything we could to enjoy retirement, and I don't remember in my lifetime living standards like they are today. Maybe it will turn around soon. Come by and visit me sometime, I'd like to get to know you better. I love meeting new people.

    Hugs,
    Chris
