We are having about 40 for Thanksgiving this year and when we realized that there will only be three weekends after Thanksgiving until Christmas we discussed decorating the house early for Christmas. Most of the family doesn't get down here when the house is ready for Christmas so we figured that we might as well take the next week to decorate and have it finished for all to enjoy. We may be having Thanksgiving dinner on Christmas plates but, hey, you have to do what you have to to.
Funny - we are on the same page! I'm beginning my decorating today too! Wish I had as many gifts purchased as you.... Also wishing I had someone to haul all the decor upstairs for me.... Good Luck and Happy Decorating!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the idea of a wrapping station. I can't wait to see your decorations for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to see it all decorated! I love the guest house and your Mom's looks good for being done 30yrs ago, that seems so long ago! I hope you enjoy your holiday decorating and your holiday!!

When I read that you were having 40 guests, I had a mini panic. Good luck! I bet it will be so much fun. I do not have any aunts, uncles, cousins, or grandparents. I'm quite jealous! My husband has 10 brothers and sisters, but since he is the second youngest, they are all older and have large families of their own. His family doesn't get together to celebrate the big holidays. So, it's just me and my little family for T-giving. You holiday sounds much more fun!
ReplyDeleteI am highly jealous of your shelves, by the way!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great idea, get ready early... My birthday is Dec. 8, and while I was growing up it was tradition that the tree couldn't go up until after my birthday. We still do it that way... ;-) But it would be neat to have everything else already up! I look forward to pictures, since I am sure it will be just gorgeous!
40 people sounds like a cook's heaven to me. I love cooking for groups, all the more people to make yummy noises while they eat. Have fun, and try not to get too stressed! :-)
Wow, 40 people...how many turkeys is that? Have a wonderful thanksgiving Sue.
ReplyDeleteMay your stuffing be tasty
ReplyDeleteMay your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
