A Snowy Morning

I was so looking forward to seeing the "S" monogram boxwoods in my front yard get their spring trim soom, but this morning we woke  up to winter weather storm advisories.  Looks like it may be awhile now before yard maintainence commences.

Porch Season

Porch season has finally arrived here in Michigan. The morning pool skimming, flower watering, and flowering plant feeding is in full swing. My back door chaise lounge is beckoning me to get out there for some PTH (peak tanning hours) tan time.

John wanted a rainbow of flowers this year with nothing hanging down to get in the way of his constant grooming of said porch so I complied and picked out sun loving plants in a rainbow of colors for him to plant....Roy G. Biv (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo) kept running through my head as we cruised the rows of blooms at the nursery.

With the morning chores out of the way it is time for a Friday mani & pedi, a couple of hours of sun, wardrobe change, hair and makeup then out to dinner with friends on our other favorite porch at Brio, a show, then music in the town center.
Tomorrow morning trips all over the neighborhood markets for fresh produce and fodder for the grill for the family and friends that will be joining us to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday weekend that we observer here in the US to honor our Veterans.

~ Ruffels and Reading ~

What a beautiful morning it is here. I hope the sun is shining on you too this morning where ever you are. The flowers are so abundant here this spring that they beg to be harvested.
All the stalks on these iris are so loaded with blooms that they were falling over on to the sidewalk around the pool. John takes great pride in his pristine concrete so this morning I cut them back before their beautiful indigo stained his pride and joy.

Now his sidewalk is free of wandering flora and my sofa table is graced with armfuls of ruffled indigo iris.

One of these days I hope to get time to settle in and read the books that I picked up on the Island.

John Is Home ~ Thank You For All Your Prayers

Thanks everyone for all of your prayers. John is home now safe and sound. He had very minor damage to his heart so he should not have any further problems. We so appreciate all of your thoughtfulness.
Tonight we went and got plants for all the planters. Tomorrow I'm heading up north for a baby shower and John and Matt will do the planting. Thanks to Matt for the heavy lifting. John will be doing the supervising.
Have a good weekend and thank you again for all your kindness.
Hugs,
Sue

~ Fall Garden ~

Ah, what a beautiful fall day it is here after all of the rain we have had. Hope the sky's are clearing where ever you are too.

The hydrangea tree is turning to soft shades to blend into the fall landscape. Under it the lily stalks are drying and getting ready to spread their seed pod contents into the garden to get ready for next years show. The sedum is blooming its pretty shade of purple.

We haven't changed out the front planters yet because the flowers in them still have some blooms left that are just to pretty to get rid of. These wheat type blooms give them a bit of a fall edge.

Going around to the back yard it looks like we might get a second bloom of lavender which would be nice.

In the back yard the little sedum plants under the hydrangeas are perking right along.

The yew and boxwood hedges back here by the Lady At The Well fountain are getting over grown. I will leave them alone until Thanksgiving when they will provide good clippings for the centerpieces.

Some tomatoes ready for harvest.

Left over chives and some new growth of parsley.

Hum,,,,,,,,,,this was supposed to be a picture of basil.

More new growth of parsley.

Have a great day blog friends.

Hugs,

Sue

The Stargazers Are Blooming

Good morning Ladies. I so wish I could pick a stem or two for each and every one of you so you could smell how lovely these Stargazer Lily's are.
When I opened the front door today their gentle fragrance filled the air and I knew they must be in bloom.
They are not as plentiful as years past and a few weeds that need to be plucked but glorious just the same.
Here they are nestled up to this little Hydrangea tree that is about to bloom.
Wow, this white Hydrangea is huge and covers most of the west side fence. These will make pretty arrangements for the two blue and white vases that have been empty in the dining room on the side board.
Oh look, the Rose of Sharon hedge is starting to bloom too.
These gigantic Hibiscus shrubs are so big and put on a nice show from the kitchen window but they fade fast and the dropped blossoms make the biggest mess.
They are pretty though, don't you think? Pretty things always seem to get away with making a few messes.
Looks like we will have fresh tomatoes this weekend for Aaron and the kids when they get here tomorrow.
No word yet on any change in Mom's condition. We so appreciate your prayers. I will let you know when I hear more.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a minute to leave a comment so I can come visit you too.
Hugs,
Sue

Garden Walk

Won't you join me for a walk around the yard this beautiful morning? Grab a cup of coffee and lets see what's blooming. The lemon thyme is bursting with its pretty purple flowers and spilling over the sidewalk
The little blue bells are in full bloom and the smaller lily's are blooming.
Let's go around the corner of the front of the house and see whats going on there.
The window boxes are a little dry but the lily's are really plentiful this year.
The Stargazers are not blooming yet and are pretty sparse because the bunnies decided that they really liked the sweet foliage this spring.
Oh, this looks pretty coming around to the drive way.

Let's go around back and see how things are coming along.
The lavender didn't do great this year, I wonder why? The big Hydrangeas are starting to bloom out back.

The herbs in the planters don't look to good. They might need to be cut back a bit.
Wow, these lily's that didn't bloom well last year are really putting on a show this season.

The Rose of Sharon hasn't started to flower yet but their foliage is really filling in a creating a nice hedge here.
Thanks for joining me on my morning walk. I would love to hear from y'all. Leave me a comment if you have a minute and let me know how you're doing. I'll try to get around to visit soon.
Hugs,
Sue
