Nubs Nob

Today we are packing to head up to our family chalet at the base of Nubs Nob ski resort in Harbor Springs, Michigan. The picture above is of the Lodge at Nubs. The family has spent Christmas break there, with a few exceptions, since 1961. Boyne Highlands, a resort in the Boyne Group of resorts, is right across the street. Nubs is a much smaller resort but those of us who are regulars swear that Nubs is better ;) If you are looking for a fun place to take the family for Christmas break come on up. The Petoskey/Harbor Springs area is a winter- wonder-land this time of year.

This is the view of the face of the ski hills from a Chalet close to ours. Unfortunately, I just lost the link to an article using this picture that I was trying to share with you that is about the area and the interesting people that own the beautiful Chalet that is attached to this porch railing. If I find it I will come back and edit this post.........

Tablescape Thursday

Happy Tablescape Thursday Ladies.
The table is all set for a Birthday Celebration.

To set the table I used my dishes, flat ware, and accessories from Summer Hill, our old cottage in Harbor Springs.

This little Anna Weatherly tid bit plate with the butterfly is from the store where I used to work occasionally during the summer. I added it to the tablescape to coordinate with the butterfly clips that came as package decorations from Neiman-Marcus that I used on a couple of the napkins.

The mosaic rabbit plate came from the annual arts and crafts show that they have at Nub's Nob in Harbor Springs. I thought it looked kind of cute tucked into my center piece.

Here is a close up of the place setting.

This little candle stick with the sweet paper shade also came from Patricia Wood & Co., the shop I worked at.

It is a little faded but the detail on the back of the shade with the scalloped edge and hand sewn seam, ending in a bow, makes it worthy of preserving.

In the foyer I set up the dessert table with the dishes that I'm giving away to let you get a peek at how they might look when put to use.

You can go to the tag on my side bar to sign up to win this dessert set by Rosanna Inc.
Thank you again Susan at Between Naps On The Porch. To join in or to visit the other Tablescaper's hop on over and take a look at her gorgeous site.
Hugs,
Sue

Happy New Year

Happy New Year all. I have missed you.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are off to a terrific new year.

I spent the whole season without taking a single picture.

It was a decision I made to savor every moment.

May all your moments in the coming year be blessed and full of love!
The pictures above are from The Cottage Company in the sweet little town of Harbor Springs.

Blue & White Shoppe Window

This morning it was cloudy and rainy so we loaded up and headed to town with the intention of taking some pictures to blog. Last night I made sure to charge up the camera but after taking one picture my camera flashed the dreaded out of memory sign.
So at least we have one picture to share with you of this pretty window display.
Tonight it is sunny and hot, hot, hot and the condo that we are renting does not have AC so it feels like an old time summer around here.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a happy New Years eve and day. In northern Michigan we had an old fashioned snow storm like we haven't seen in years. The fresh snow brought out the skiers in droves.
This is the drive way of the Chalet looking up at the ski hills at 7 am. By 10 am we had cars all the way down here and farther down the road. The ski resorts in the area had record amounts of skiers all during the Christmas week break.
Inside Dana works on the design for the remodel after meeting with the builder who advised us that our original plan was too ambitious.
Uncle Kyle with his ski bunny PJ clad nieces and Sponge Bob nephew.
Above are Carrie and Doug with their snowboards then Kyle, Blake and I on our ski's. Finally, John and I relaxing after a day on the slopes.

We had a great time up north with the family but it is really nice to be home. When you aren't used to a house full of kids it is a bit exhausting even though delightful and so much fun. John is off work today so he will have another day to rest up while I attempt to get unpacked and fluff up the house as well as myself.

Thanks every one for stopping by. As soon as we get settled back in I hope to get around to visiting my blog friends and seeing what every one is up to in 2008. We have a couple of projects here at Greenbrier that need attention and work on the guest house continues along with the Chalet project so it should be a busy year here.

Take care and God bless us all as we start this lovely new year.

xoxo,
Sue
