A Little Summer Decorating

Good morning Ladies. Did you all have a good weekend? I have been putting out a bit of the red, white and blue around here and thought I would share it with you.

We usually go up north for the 4th of July but this year we will be staying home. I miss summers up north.

Hugs,
Sue

Belated 4th of July Pictures

I still haven't gotten a new memory card for my camera but this morning I did get around to downloading our pictures from the 4th so here are a few for the family. Here are the kids lined up on the bikes that Angie and Dana decorated for them for the parade. Doesn't that sound like a sweet thing? Truth be told, we ended up walking downtown and about half way there we were dragging more than half the bikes while the kids ran ahead of us. We ended up parking the bikes in front of the bakery for the duration of the parade.
Here is the start of the parade. All looks good with the presentation of the colors and the guns firing in the air. Well, this parade went on for the longest time much to the chagrin of the Little's because there was not nearly enough candy being thrown from the paraders to satisfy their expectations.
So, we took a few pictures
of our sweet little babe's
then headed back to the beach.
Uncle Kyle was cruising by for an early morning ride on the Carrie Ann ll, very wise of him to skip the whole parade thing. We all changed into our play clothes and spent the rest of the day playing in the water.

US ~ 4th of July ~

The cooking part of the to do list is done. The car is loaded and after a good nights sleep I am checking in with you to wish all in the US a safe and happy 4th of July.
Here in the mid-west the weather is finally warm enough to enjoy being outside. Those close to any of the many lakes that surround our beautiful state get as close to them as they can around the 4th of July and those who summer up north are settled in and ready to party.

Most towns have parades where you gather up any bits of red, white and blue that you have and stick it on bikes, kids, wagons and strollers. We head downtown and wave little flags that we get at the grocery store. The parades are varied but most include veterans, town officials, kids, pet's and local politicians.

The water is usually warm enough for us to put the kids in their red, white & blue bathing suits, slather them up in sun screen, strap them into their floaters, lead them to the water and hope that they swim. Mostly though they sit on the sandy beaches and fill their bathing suits or diapers up with sand that gets all over the place when we finally drag them in after a day at the beach.

The pictures above are from the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Cooking & Packing

With this as inspiration,
and this scribbled menu as a guide,
I am praying for this list of tasks to be finished before we head up north to celebrate the 4th of July.
Hope you are all enjoying this glorious day.
Hugs,
Sue
