Are you watching The Kennedys' Miniseries? As you can see by the photograph and stack of Jackie books on my end table by where I sat watching the movie I am a long time Kennedy fan.
I have been looking forward to this move ever since first hearing about it while in production. When I heard that the History Chanel had decided not to air it I was not happy. Thankfully the Reelz Chanel picked it up.
Apparently someone tore the stamp off, I have no idea where it went. The envelope is post marked, "Washington 36, D.C., Aug 16, 8-PM, 1961".
It is strange to think about today that at nine years old I was so taken with the Kennedys' that I would write a letter to the White House asking for a picture and that I knew at that young age they were something special.
So, are you watching and what do you think?
I would love to see this (and YES, I was disappointed as well when History decided not to show it) and I don't think I have Reelz!!! Maybe it will be available at some time on Netflix. The mysterious draw this family holds is something I have never been able to shake! I even have a John-John! LOL
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I didn't think I had the Reelz Chanel either but searched around and found out that I do. You might want to check and see if you have it. On Saturday and Sunday they are playing the whole series leading up to the finally on Sunday night.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a John-John!

Sue,
ReplyDeleteI have been watching it! I think the casting is superb! Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes were the perfect choice!
PS My 16 year old's name is Kennedy.:)
Just watched it for the first time tonight, so thanks for the suggestion! If you go on line to the website for she show, you'll get a listing of all the stations showing it. I had never heard of Reelz, either, but I seem to have it. I enjoyed the production, but why does Jackie (Katie Holmes) have an accent from the outer boroughs of NY? She sounds like a BBQ (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens) secretary.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched it, don't have Reelz, but I have a hard time picturing Katie Holmes as Jackie.
ReplyDeleteHHH & Kathie, In my humble oppinion Katie Holmes is going a good job in the role of Jackie Kennedy.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the final episode tonight.
That is so cool that you have a picture of JFK from the White House and even cooler that you saved the envelope! xx
ReplyDeleteHuge JBKO fan... I have a ton of books about her, but not the top one on your stack!
ReplyDeleteI eagerly looked forward to the 'Kennedy Series' and enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteMy first time voting in a Presidential Election was 1960 and I voted for John Kennedy. Jackie was always the quintessential lady to me, full of grace and charm.
I remember exactly what I was doing when the news was announced that he had been shot. I couldn't believe what I heard.
