Unloading the dishwasher...one of those morning chores that needs to be done.
Sometimes it gets done while the coffee is brewing, and that is a good day.
Often it lingers until after dinner and becomes a bigger chore.
You know the kind...dinner is over and you are ready to clean up only to discover there is already a dishwasher full of clean dishes that need to be put away before you can put in the ones now filling your sink. That one extra step seems to be more of burden after a busy day when you are ready to relax than it is if you do it earlier in the day....It is for me anyway. You?
I totally agree. Beautiful dishes and silver, by the way.
ReplyDeleteDishes in the dishwasher never looked so good;)!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see you use your silver, too, but to put it in the dishwasher? OY! Along with pots? Either you have a Miele or some other fine machine, or you are one dang brave woman!!!
ReplyDeleteGretchen,
ReplyDeleteNo Miele here, just a regular GE Profile that came with our house.
I have been putting our silver in the dishwasher with all kinds of things for more than 20 years and it still looks good. I heard all the warnings against it but with a houseful of teenagers the occasional piece ended up in the dishwasher without harm. Finally I just started putting it all in.
Yay for you for putting your silver in the dishwasher, and actually USING it. As long as it's not touching any stainless steel, it will be fine. I have friends who have been doing this for 40 years.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blue and white dishes, gorgeous silver!

My dishwasher of clean dishes never looked that good!!!! What pretty blue and white dishes you have!!!! And I love your blue and white!!! Of course, with that spode tureen in your header I should have known that your dishwasher would be full of blue and white!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how lovely even a loaded dishwasher can look with beautiful china and silver in it! These are the simple pleasures I love! Makes it not feel QUITE so annoying to open your full/clean dishwasher at the end of long, trying day. (I too have been washing my silver in the dishwasher for 28 years! Wouldn't use my silver otherwise. I've even done it with my stainless steel ware in there. I just make sure they don't touch.)
ReplyDeleteLoving all the blue & white, silver too! :) Thanks, I'll have to go back through her earlier posts to see if I can spot the matching Gucci shoes. That would def. be dangerous, LOL! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Stay warm, it's going to be a chilly week! Boo! :(
ReplyDeleteBeen there...hope you enjoyed the weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty dishes! I unload the dishwasher in the morning while my coffee is perculating (no auto drip coffeemaker for me...although I do miss my old one with a timer sometimes).
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty dishes!
ReplyDeleteI have been there before when I'm ready to clean up and find the dishwasher full of clean dishes. lol So thankful to have a dishwasher that's working though.
Hugs!
I just found your blog, and I was drawn to the beautiful tureen in your header! I totally agree with you about the dishwasher full. I sometimes will just handwash then put everything up later!
